i have a 99 sierra 5.3 7z1 4x4. i was drivining today when i notices a whining noise coming from the tranny. i didnt think much of it just kept an ear on it. the truck has 209k. on it. i pulled away from a red ;light and noticed that it took high revs (2500-3000) before it shifted to 2nd with little acceloratorpressure. it felt like it was stuck in overdrive. my over drive hasent worked since i bought the truck. i pulled into my driveway and put it in reverse and there was nothing but a whining noise, im guessing is the touqe converter. it moves in drive but feels like its in OD. could be skipping 2nd. and 4wd works 4hi/lo. if someone knows what im up against for cost of whats actually broken that would be greatly appreciated. i love this truck and dont want to have crazy problems in the future. am i looking at a rebuild? or something else? do these trannys have a problem with this its a 4l60e. any imput is appreciated thankyou

Are you thinking diy swap or get it done? Tranny noise and problems are hard to diagnose, start by looking at the lines and evaluating the fluid. If there are leaks and you lost fluid you may be ok but if the fluid looks really dark and smells burnt then your looking atty a swap or build.
They are pretty common transmissions, ask around for a really respected shop and get them to tell you what's wrong and see if they recommend a swap or pulling out out and rebuilding.
