'05 Silverado, 5.3L - replacing sensor, but there is no filter to remove. I looked, fished around with a hook to remove anything unseen that might be a sensor (see video) and there is no filter purchased does not fit

I’ve never put a new screen inside there on any LS engine I’ve worked on. Everyone I know says not to even bother with them. I wouldn’t worry about putting one in. From what I’ve read and understand from other mechanics is that they tend to cause more problems than they prevent.

I think there is no filter until 2007.5 with AFM.

Thanks. It didn't look like a filter down in there to me. I'll just put the sensor in and go with it.

Correct. No filter until 2007.5 when AFM was added.

Replaced the sensor, no filter, and the knock sensors and knock sensor Wiring harness. Running like a champ now, took about 20 minutes for the check engine light to go off. Thanks for the help.

OK. Repair went great. Knock sensor light and oil pressure sensor reading accurately. BUT, now immediately on starting I have thick white smoke from the exhaust. Is there anything about the repair of the knock sensor or oil pressure sensor that would cause that? Thoughts?
