Hey, Newbie here needing some expert advice. I went to the salvage yard today and got 2 OHC's with the Homelink Option out of a Yukon and a Tahoe for my 2004 Silverado, my current console just had the map lights.
The console(s) I got both had the climate control switches in it but I popped the control module panel out so I could put my current cubby hole storage area in place of it. It's a perfect fit. The climate control has a separate plug and wire independent of the rest so I just left them at the salvage yard.
The pigtail plugs match the wires match, same plug and fits perfectly on my roof mount. I got the Homelink programmed and working for my garage door and gate opener for both of the consoles but the maplights only come on when I push the buttons for each of them. They will not come on when the doors open or when I turn on the interior light switch.
When I open the doors the Homelink button lights come on and then dim out with the dimming of the interior lights. The Homelink buttons will not stay lit when driving but will stay lit when the interior switch is on but most importantly as mentioned above the lights will not come on when the doors are opened or the remote is unlocked etc.
I cannot figure it out? Same plug (2) separate consoles with the same issues. Has anyone experienced this or tried the same thing? I know GM had two separate pigtail plugs one larger and one smaller. Mine is the smaller plug but it fits the console plug perfectly. Was this even an option for a 04 2500 HD Silverado? I see them on Ebay saying they fit my year and make. The map light wiring matches up the same as my factory console.
