I run Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w-20 in my 2015 and it seems to be very good oil. I am not saying it is good because it sounds better or looks better I am saying that because Blackstone labs tell me it is. I do oil samples on my oil. I must say though that the AC Delco dealer stuff is also very good. The PUP has more cleaning agents but looking at a used oil analysis with the dealer oil it holds up well.

But my 5.3 EcoTec sheds less aluminum and Iron with the PUP and the Total Base Number and Total Acid Number seem to take a longer time to cross paths with the PUP. Most will say when the Tan is greater than the TBN you should change your oil. I still change at 7,500 and TBN is slightly above Tan.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum can be hard to find and the 0w-20 I only find at Wally world and sometimes have to buy it buy the quart at $7 a pop

As many have said, it will be fine. Pennzoil makes a good product.

As for the DEXOS logo, companies have to pay to put the logo on their product.. So an oil could meet or exceed of the DEXOS specs, and not be labeled as such, AMSOIL is another example.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum IS FULLY DEXOS1 Licensed by GM.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic Shell Oil Products Co. dexos1 0W-20 Global
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic Shell Oil Products Co. dexos1 5W-20 Global
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic Shell Oil Products Co. dexos1 5W-30 Global

Actually, most full synthetic oils are now fully licensed by GM. In the past, although the did in fact meet they GM standards, they were not actually licensed to sport the logo. I don't know if the oil companies finally gave in and paid to get the licensing or if GM finally dropped the fees completely or at least enough to make it reasonable or if it was a combination, but now almost any full synthetic is on the Dexos1 licensing list. And, for some reason, some of the companies, while being licensed, still don't sport the logo.

Check the list. You won't find very main main stream synthetics that are not on it and there are certainly a lot of lesser known oils on the list.

I assume you are paying extra for the TBN and TAN test from Blackstone?

Yes, they sure do not even provide the TBN for $25, the TBN adds $10 and the Tan adds $10. I just did one for a baseline but when the sample is as much as a oil change almost you might as well just change it. I just do mine before the 7,500 with a 5,800 mile average. 5.800 miles on PUP is no big deal. Do you suggest a better place for TBN and TAN?

Another tidbit of information about the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum:

It is used by D***e in their SRT line of engines, and is the only oil used by Ferrari in their entire lineup.
Another tidbit, although most probably won't care about, is that it tastes awful.

I tried it over some tuity fruity ice cream and it tasted like something Oprah would have excreted after a hot sweaty night with Richard Simmons.

It's called a joke. Lighten up.
No need to get your panties twisted.

There have probably been 613 oil threads created, pick one that you can be ultra serious in and be happy or you can just ignore the posts you don't like and that make you feel icky. Life is too short to get mad over a simple oil thread.
