I'm currently plasti-dipping my front chrome bumper on my Sierra and I'm not too sure just how many cans I should be using.

I asked someone who had done her bumper the same way I'm doing mine, and she said she took 4-6 cans to get it done.

I've just finished about 3/4 of a can and there's no chrome showing anymore, and I've probably put on about 7 decent layers so far.

Should I keep going for 1 1/2 cans, or just finish off the current can?

I use it at a 1 can per wheel rate, so 1 to 2 cans sounds about right. Plus gloss if desired. To have a real good thick coat. You don't want it paper thin or you will get bleed thru of the chrome and when you want to peel it off it won't fight much. A thin layer is harder to remove.

And then once you can agree that you want the bumper black forever, peel it off, sand the chrome down, and stray black paint on it
Lol, it sounds like he wants it to be removable..

When I helped my buddy do it, we used 1.5 cans. So the 1-2 ratio sounds right.
