I have a 2016 Silverado 1500 LT and I was wondering how do I know if I have a rear locking differential? Is there any kind of mark or stamp I should look for on the vehicle to see if mine is equipped with one?

open the dash, look for the code g80 on it. YOu got that code you got a locker.

If it has the OEM towing package, it has a locking rear diff.

Not true. I've seen trucks with the towing package and an open diff and 3.08 gears.

It's super easy to check with the rpo codes so there's no need to guess at what you have.

Here's the gear ratios incase you want to know that as well

GU4= 3.08
GU5= 3.23
GU6= 3.42
GT4= 3.73
GT5= 4.10
G80= LOCKING DIFF

You won't have 3.73 or 4.10 since they don't make 1500's with those ratios anymore.

Why would GM cease putting a 3.73 or 4.10 in a 1500? Oh, let me guess, it is all about the EPA fuel efficiency standards.

If you order a 2016 or 2017 with the towing package it has a rear locking diff with the standard gearing.

Go to build your own Silverado on their website and you will be surprised what options will delete or add what features. Will give you a better idea. Remember not every trim model will automatically come with certain features.
