My Uncle is a mechanic and has replaced 3 fuel sending units on 3 different 2011 Silverados in 3 weeks - I had him check mine. Its crispy... I want to order one so I have it on hand for when it decides to leak. He told me that one replacement he ordered from NAPA (Delphi pump) was plastic, the next one he ordered was metal. I went on GM part direct and they only offer the metal one for my vin, I would like the plastic sender as I have to keep this load for 4 more years. Will the plastic one work with my truck?

ask your uncle for the part number for the plastic one, he should have a copy of the invoice somewhere.

That would've been the smart thing.

It amazes me that my 2004 had the original pump when i sold it.... it JUUUUST started setting the large EVAP code when i traded it 6 months ago, this piece of junk is 7 years old in Feb.... and its rotted already. Everyday I get in that thing, turn the key and wish I would've just fixed my old truck. Live and learn i guess.
