I just bought a 2012 Z71ext cab and am thinking about going to 285/70/17 tires. My truck has only 85 miles on it and my tire supplier here in Akron can do a swap (plus some cash from my end) for his G/Y 285 silent armors for my 265's. I really want to keep the ride the way it is and like the G/Y tires that are on there but really want to get a little meaner look . So i have to make up my mind pretty quick cus the tits on the tires are slowly going away  I Have a f150 with G/Y silent armours and love them. Will they rub without a level kit? couldnt find any good pics outhere with the z71 rims with the 285's on em..

Do some research. But I have a 275/65/20 on mine with no leveling kit. And a 275 is actually a 33" tall tire. The 285 is only 32" tall. Plus the 275's are a lot cheaper.

My wifes 2010 CC 2wd has a Procomp 2.25" front leveling kit. I put a 285/70/17 tire all the way around. No issues with clearance and it fills out the wheel opening much better than the factory 20's. Check out the pic

Your 2012 is so much easier to level than older torsen bar equipped trucks. I did the leveling kit on a 2wd in the driveway and it only took about an hour with basic hand tools. 4wd trucks will take a little longer but still pretty low on the difficulty meter. Then you will need an alignment. I did a lot of research and found various kits with a broad price range. I looked at it like you get what you pay for. If your able to spend 40K on a truck why squabble over fifty to a hundred bucks.

What we really need is for someone to write a "How To" about leveling the NNBS trucks. The next person who does there own leveling should really do a write up with pictures. Please???

I just took off a 3" leveling kit off my 2011 Sierra and installed a pro comp 6" lift. I'm here in Ohio too. Could get it to ya quick for $75. Let me know. Real easy to install, had it done in less than 2 hrs.

Here is a link to Rough Country's 2" leveling kit. (& also a link to it on our site) They have a video of how to install them. It is very easy. We do both sides in about 30 mins.

P.S. 2WD & 4WD trucks take the same part number

suncoastcustoms: Thanks for the links...excellent information!

Your website says the following: "Notes:• Must know if front lower control arms are aluminum or not. "

How do we know, and which kit do we need?

If you have the Aluminum arms they will be the silver aluminum color. They will be black if not aluminum.
Most are not aluminum. The AWD GMC Denali & Cadillac trucks are usually the only ones to have the aluminum arms.
The only difference in the kits are the bolts are a tad longer for the thicker aluminum models

this is the instructions i used... they were spot on perfect. just dont be afraid when installing the kit give the ball joint and steering linkage a good wack with a hammer and they pop right out, and u will need a pry bar to pry on your coil spring to get the ball joint back into the assembly...other then that its golden

Use a floor jack under the control arm instead of the pry bar. It's much easier and safer.
