So I recently noticed a strange noise from the steering column from inside the truck. Whenever I turn the wheel it sounds like rubbing and whining. But from the outside with the hood open, everything sounds and looks normal.
Anyone have ideas?

This is a common problem.

Here's some things to check:

First, Tire PSI
I know it sounds stupid, but it's easy to check the usual solution.

Second, Lube
There's a seal at the bottom of the interior steering column.
Spray WD-40 at the base of the column to bring life back to the seal. Put down some paper so it doesn't drip on the floor mats.
If the seal has deteriorated you may need to replace it down the road.

Third, ISS
Intermeidate Steering Shaft can be done by a DIYer.

Well the tires are set to 55 psi (they are 10 ply) so I don't think it's that. I'll take a look at the seal you're talking about when I get a chance.
