My trans temp is consistently 190-200 if I drive long enough. It doesn't matter if it's hundreds of miles on open highway or stop-and-go traffic. I have the 2023 3.0 Silverado. I went with my dad today to pick up a boat. He drives a 2024 Sierra 5.3 with the same 10-speed transmission that I have. We towed an empty trailer 200 miles and his trans temp stayed at about 150 degrees the entire time. We towed the boat 200 miles home (probably about 2000 lbs total) and again, his trans temp stayed at 150 degrees. This was through hilly KY and TN.
So I guess my question is: why is there such a large variance in temperatures between the 3.0 and the 5.3, if they're both using the same transmission? I have been considering getting the PPE transmission fluid thermal bypass valve, but complaints that they push the temp too low have paused that for now. And yet, the same transmission runs 50* cooler with a different powertrain? Weird.
