I have a 2002 GMC Sierra 2500HD, 6.0 with Automatic. I changed the oil, backed the truck out of the garage, put it in park, shut the garage doors, got back in truck. Pushed brake pedal, Shift lever moved down, but felt like it went way to easy. It doesn't feel like any linkage is moving. Don't have any action, forward or backward, nothing. Any ideas? Thank you

It sounds like the shifter cable broke.

There must be a clip that holds the cable to the linkage arm on the transmission. The cable was off the arm. I wired it on to try it and yes sir, it worked. Do you know if you have to get the whole cable to fix this problem or is there just a clip? Thank you for your help.

There is a metal clip, but I'm not sure if they sell it by itself. You may try a junk yard, they may sell one seperatly. I know they do come with the new cable assembly.
