I've got a 2013 Silverado HD 2500 with a USB port inside the center console just above the 12v power port. Is this USB just for charging a phone or does it allow connection of flash drive to the radio? I do have a small RCA port on the lower right side of the radio and I have used that to connect IPOD but was curious about the USB.

That's where I plugged in a 32gb flash drive with all my music on it. No use at all for sirius/xm anymore.

This sort of thing is explained clearly in the OM that came with my 1500. You didn't get an OM?

Bought the truck used and there was no book. I'll get to the dealer and get one.

Formatted two thumb drives, both 32 gb, and formatted for FAT32 and neither is seen by the radio. Get a display of "No USB device". I'll check the port itself and see if it's good.

Thank you for the manual.

I made up a test lead and found no power at the USB port. I guess I'll check the connection at the radio.

Pulled the radio and found the cable was not plugged in to the radio. Working fine now. Gotta love the easy fixes
