Valve Cover Leak, dealership screwed me

Looking for some advice here.

I have a 2010 Sierra, 5.3, and back in 2015 while the truck was still under warranty, I had some oil seepage from the driver side valve cover and brought it up to the dealership, who told me it was normal. Now that the truck is out of warranty (but only has 63000 miles) the valve cover is leaking a significant amount of oil. I found the service bulletin #100601008G showing the valve cover on my truck is recommended for replacement due to oil consumption, which I have also noticed since I have begun changing my own oil after the truck went out of warranty. The dealership is telling me to pound sand even though I brought up the issue during warranty, stating that that seepage at the time was "normal" but now here I am with a significant oil leak and I find out now that there is a service bulletin related to issues with that exact part. The dealership never noted my complaint about oil seepage on my service receipts.

Do I have any ground to stand on with GM on this or will I just have to eat it and replace it myself? I already bought the new valve cover, but I'm just feeling a bit screwed over about it.

It is not normal, which is obvious. Do you have physical proof that they said "Oil seepage at the valve cover is normal". You should of went to another dealership when they gave you that answer. If you have proof I would talk to GM Corporate.

I think it's a bald faced lie not a ball face... well unless he is acting like another name for Richard. ;)

Well..... I bought the valve cover, replaced it myself. I made a complaint with GM and the service manager called me, but basically said that since the tech never documented that I asked for them to check the seepage, there is nothing they can do. He further explained that GM does consider "some seepage to be normal". That was the point in the conversation that I related how ridiculous it is to tell me that ANY oil leaking out of the engine is normal. Eventually they offered to "look at it" if I wanted to make an appointment, but I decided it was easier and less aggravation to just do it myself. I'm out $80, and have a bad taste in my mouth from GM on the whole deal, because its not the first time something like this has happened.

They should document it if you brought the truck in for that issue. No Oil seepage is normal. That is absolutely absurd, My truck doesn't have any oil seepage anywhere on it. You need to find a new dealer.

Well, its out of warranty now, so I'm done with the dealer until I buy a new truck...which IF its another GM it won't be from that dealership.

I would go to another dealer and explain that you had it for the issue while it was still under warranty and give them the TSB number and give them a chance to take care of it and earn your future business.
