Pretty sure they get the Allison now

 

I think the Allison is still only behind the diesels.

It should be the 6l90e for gas trucks. That's assuming there the same as the 2015 HD trucks which I assume they are.

I thought so but I cant find the word "Allison" on the description of any truck online. Thats what prompted me to ask.

Here is what it says for all the trucks. diesel and gas

Transmission, 6-speed automatic, heavy-duty, electronically controlled with overdrive and tow/haul mode. Includes Cruise Grade Braking and Powertrain Grade Braking (Requires (L96) Vortec 6.0L V8 SFI engine or (LC8) 6.0L V8 SFI Gaseous engine.)

 

Yeah if it doesn't say allison, it doesn't have it. They use that as a selling point as much as they can. And for good reason, the Allison is a very very good transmission. The best automatic transmission out there for light duty and even medium duty trucks imo

My 2004 2500 HD had the Allison and it was great. I am getting a 2016 and wondered what model # the heavy duty transmission is.

 

MYD 6 speed and no drain plug on the 2016 vin I ran on GM

Had the 8.1

 

I know I read somewhere they were gonna couple the 6.0 to an Allison but I guess it was all a lie because I can't find anything now.

 

They should, but I haven't really heard of any issues with durability of the 6l90e behind the 6.0 so I guess it's been a good trans for them.

 

They did in a stepvan like Workhorse use to make where a PTO was required.
