Hello, i am new to the forum. Greetings to everyone.

I recently got a used Silverado 2007 4.3 with manual gear box. In mexico the 2007 model is like 2003-2006 in USA. I am having a blast driving it, it feels really well and solid. I got 19MPG on town. Whats your MPG?

Sorry about my bad english.

Hello,
welcome to the site.
Here in the states they called your 2007 silverado a '' classic '' and sold it along side the new body 2007s.
Maybe you guys didn't the new body style until 08 ?
I have had several 4.3 liters in chevy trucks, great motor.
The only one I had with a manual trans was a 1988 1500, on the highway I could get 23 mpg easy with this truck,
around town anywhere from 14- 17.( my 88 wasn't much different from yours except, older 4.3 with throttle body injection
but the same 5 speed manual)
The ones I have had with automatics would get almost as good mileage.
This is a great motor, a friend of mine just traded in a 07 classic with the 4.3 litre with 175,000 miles.
It was still running great when he traded it in and he ran the hell out of this thing.
He used to tow a bobcat with it ( his weighs about 6500 pounds + his trailer is another 2000).

By the way, your english is better than a lot of people who grew up here

I have the 4.3 in a 2013 Silverado 2wd with an Auto. MPG around town 16-17, 25 mile commute to work with about 50/50 mix of town/hwy I can get 20. We have put it on the road a few times for a couple of hundred mile runs and with running the speed limit we can get 24-25 mpg. Only mods are a K&N drop in air filter and a tonneau cover.

That's great mileage,
I think a lot of people who have been unhappy with 4.3s buy them and run the hell out of them,
then get disappointed when they realize they don't have 400 hp and are only getting 13 mpg because they are
driving with there foot to the floor all the time.

I have always liked the 4.3 myself, I love how they sound outside of the truck;
like they would dig a hole right where they sit when you stand by the tailpipe at idle.

Very sharp looking truck, by the way, the short bed reg cabs are very sporty in my opinion.

Yeah, when i am working with the truck unloaded i got really good mileages, but when i go out with my friends and i floor it the mileage is really really bad thats why i think some people say its as econonomic as a V8. The truck got really good power and with the 5 speed it feels really pure and solid. I am thinking about adding some Nitto mud grapplers with 20" XD Wheels, i think i will loss some economy but i love the look of my pick up.

Had an 04 4.3, 5speed, 4x4 and would average around 15-17mpgs. I'm sure I could have got more but 33in tires sure wasn't helping but it looked good!

If I could have found a used Silverado with the 4.3 and 5 speed manual I would have bought it. I know that would be a good drivetrain. The 4.3 has been around for many years and like you said a manual transmission feels pure and solid. At first I really wondered how you found a 2007 with that drivetrain, then I read how it was offered as a 'Classic' model based on the earlier generation. I wish that was still sold in the U.S. Getting 19mpg in a full size truck is very good.

02 sierra 1500 with the 4.3, 4speed auto 2wd, i just did a drive 5 hours back to school (all highway) plus a little city time, got 17 mpg, but i have 400 pounds of sand in the back to keep the the rear end planted and the ride not so bad, 17 inch chrome stock wheels off of another gm suv/truck came with the truck with e rated tires(65 psi), monroe spring assisted shocks on the rear and added a leaf, i can haul a lot now.

I have a 2000 sierra, 4.3, 5 speed and i find it really good on gas. I live in quebec, canada so our gallons are bigger but anyways. The highest i've gotten is almost 27, totally highway and at about 110 kph. I work in the woods in the summer and usually get between 22.5 - 24. I don't drive crazy fast. It's winter and on my last tank i got 21.5. I have 3.42 gears and don't push it. I find it very good. It's a extended cab, short box 2wd.

I have an 08 reg cab short bed LS auto 2wd 4.3L. Im running 3.32 gears and a locker on 08 Escalade 18" alloy wheels with Bridgestone Dueler 442 Ecopias. Since I replace my filter with a K&N and reprogrammed the ECU I average 23mpg.

As long as I keep my foot out of her she sips gas.

Hi. What do i need to reprogram the ECU? Here in my town nobody knows about reprogramming it. I think I heard about that in autozone in us.
