Why I sold my Silverado 1500 LT for a F150 XLT 3.5L DOHC PowerBoost

To start things off here I just have a couple of things to say about my switch to Ford. First off, the big thing for me was where the vehicle is made the F150 that I just bought now is 75% American compared to the sub 50% of my previous Silverado that was made in Mexico which is not ok because the lack of quality control laws and regulations in the country. Secondly the powertrain/ drivetrain the 3.5L DOHC PowerBoost blows the 6.2L in the horizon, and a 30.6 gallon fuel tank+ 24-26 MPG now I am getting 700+ miles per tank compared to 450 miles on the Silverado. Next, the driving characteristic are superior to Chevy/ GMC for example the steering is much more nimble and light compared to GM which feels more sluggish and not as nimble. So, overall Ford really knocked it out of the park with the F150 anyway what more to love than 430 HP and 570 LBS FT of toque.

thought the cheapness of American trucks was out of control. Didn't Mercedes or bmw make a truck like you wanted?

Not sure anyone on a silverado forum cares about a ford but... When you start getting a rattling cold start its your timing chain stretched. Don't put that off or ignore it.

Please keep updating this thread when your honeymoon phase is over.
Personal experience has proven to me Ford's quality control is even worse than GM's.

It's too bad people can't just leave in peace. But it's the internet, so there's that. Interesting......... But......

All the best with your new ride. I enjoy both brands.

As I am getting older, I find that the horsepower stuff is no longer something that entices me anymore. But that is all preference, as I tow 7500lbs with my 4.3L.

FTE is a great place to discuss the Furds, good people. I was a member there for years.

Good luck,
Preston

I am glad you found something you love. I just thought from your previous remarks that only German made vehicles were suitable for you.

every brand, not just cars, has its goods and bads, we all know that. As long as you are happy with your purchase, is all that really matters, it is your money, spend it however you want. Hope your new ride serves you well.

Almost sounds like a Manchurian candidate.

Awesome! More rambling from this guy. 🤦‍♂️ Guess the good thing is that now that he has bought a Ferd, he will not be hanging around here telling us GM products are crap and Ferd is the best since sliced bread. 👏

Have fun with your Ferd. Glad you found The One for you.
I actually got rid of my F150 Platinum 4X4 Powerboost because of the troubles I had with it. I've owned more Ford trucks than any other. Owned 2 3.5l Ecoboost/Powerboost. They are decent engines. The hybrid portion of the Powerboost was what left me stranded 4 times and finally the entire electric drive unit was replaced. The F150 doesn't steer any better or worse than Ram or GMC. The ride is worse because it's lighter. Always had some sort of rattle in the F150. The GMC is still solid quiet.

But everyone is entitled to their opinion. Curious if you'll (the OP) will make it over to the F150 forums. I'm still a bit active over there even though I don't own a Ford.
Somehow, for some reason, I'm reminded of an old saying... something about the door hitting you in the ass on the way out... how does it go?

I don't understand why all of you take this so personally. Seriously, if everyone liked the same thing there wouldn't be enough to go around. Variety is the spice of life. Competition drives innovation. Pick your cliché. Ultimately, he is gone, out of your hair, didn't cost you a dime, so what's with all the negativity? I refuse to believe all of you are really that narrow minded

my previous Silverado
what silverado did you have?
if hp/torque was the issue, a small turbo would have you running circles around the ford.
How much was your silverado worth for trade in on the ford?
how much are you know owing to have the ford?
