How can I determine if my truck is prewired for a trailer brake controller?
It is an SLE and came with a factory trailer hitch so I'm assuming it has the trailer towing package?

There are sites on the internet where you can look up your RPO codes by VIN number. Then look in your glove box got the code that specifies trailering equipment or something similar.
As best I recall on the 2007/2008 models the "wiring provisions" for a controller consisted of a couple of wires that were stowed in the large electrical box sitting on the left inner fender well under the hood.

On my 08 that I had, there was only one wire that needed to be hooked up under the hood. It was a hot wire with a ring terminal, and went to one of the hot post on the side of the fuse/relay box. TBC wires should/could already be under the dash, as they were in my truck. Made hooking up a TBC a breeze.

I've been looking online at the controllers and most have a big selection of jumper wires to go from the controller to I'm assuming the factory wiring harness..unfortunately none that I looked at tell you which vehicle they are for.
Do you folks have a good online source for controllers,etc?

Do you have the factory 7-way receptacle in the rear bumper?

I just put one on my 2008. The 2 wires under the hood, one on each side of the Fuse Box, one goes on each terminal. One is bigger, one is smaller. Under the dash on the drivers side there were 5 Wires taped up. They are for the brake controller. They do not go color to color.
