Anyone know what's leaking?

Anyone know what's leaking?

Every now and then I see this fluid in my garage. Its not every day and it's just a few drops. Definitely not oil.

maybe front diff. The front skid plate is only 6 bolts that hold it in place, take it off maybe you will be able to tell where the leak is coming from

Agree, maybe front diff, or some oil spilled when filling up & it found its way down. It's easy to pull the plastic cover & take a look.

Just seemed like an odd color for oil. Oil is still good, haven't pulled the cover, but I figured it was too black to be front diff fluid.

The thing is that with the skid plate and splash guards on the trucks, it could be leaking from a lot of places and just running to the edge or hole in the skid plate and then dripping. With all the different fluids under the hood such as brake fluid, trans fluid, power steering fluid, motor oil, diff lube, transfer case, etc.... it is hard to tell, it looks like engine oil from what I can tell. You might have to pull the skid plate and splash guard and crawl under there to get a good look. If you can't find it that way, you need to give a good cleaning underneath and the check back after you see some of the dripping.

You wont know until you look in there. esox7 is right, it could be dripping and running down the plastic cover. Things that could be leaking right above there are crimped hoses for the power steering and/or oil cooler...they leak often at the crimp. Power steering pump and reservoir is above that area. Steering rack. You have the front differential right behind that area too. I'm willing to bet if you pop the hood with a flashlight you can see something. The plastic cover comes off in 2 min. You have a garage i'm jealous 8-)

I'm gonna say possibly left front axle shaft seal. They always leak! Now if the front diff lube is that black, may have another whole can of worms to open up.

I'm pretty sure it's coming from the front diff. Any ideas what it may be or has anyone else had this issue? It's a 2014 with only 58k. I did notice a while back when I was in the snow in auto 4wd it sounded like it was clicking under acceleration, almost like a wheel bearing was going out but only in 4wd and under acceleration

Have you stuck your head up in there yet? Its only waiting on you brother. If you cant see because of dirt/grease/grime build up....you need a pressure hose of something to spray that crap off to get a good look. I had a leak on mine when I bought it. It was leaking for a while. The buildup of dirt was crazy. Once I washed it down I could tell it was the power steering hoses. Ya gotta get in there and look sir 8-)

Jack it up and get under it! Distance pictures are just speculation. You will be able to see exactly where it is coming from.
