Clunk...clunk... Service 4wd

Postby Rbilco83 [OP] » Dec 28 2013, 9:46pm

I spend 90% of winter driving in 2wd, but we had lots of snow so I decided to use auto today. I turned it to auto, the light went on, hit the gas.. Then I heard clunk.. Clunk.. And then had the service 4wd message come up. The clunk sounded like it came from the front left... But I can't say for sure. Both of my cv are not older than 6 months.

I restarted truck and was able to put back into 2wd, and no more service 4wd message.

2008 silverado with about 90k miles

Any ideas?!? I can't find much on the nnbs trucks
Is the data associated with that message stored anywhere?

Cheers

Hard to say from the description, but definitely have another look at the front axles. If the code is stored anywhere it'll be in either the TCM or ABS computers, which most code readers can't read.

It looks like you are on the edge of the 5 year warranty limit. Hopefully, you are still in the window.

Looked under truck and Both of my axles having been slinging grease! Not too bad but there should be none
I don't think one of them is more than 3 months old!! ***

Maybe the cardone axles can't handle the extreme cold. I don't think my angles are too bad
