Transmission problems

Postby Dalton2510 [OP] » May 12 2016, 2:26pm

So I searched the forums and couldn't find anything exactly like what I'm dealing with... I was going up a hill and lost all power to the transmission basically everything...Drive Reverse 1 2 and 3 all just act like its in neutral just revs up the engine but no go... Transmission fluid is clean and full drive shaft does not spin when it's in gear pins look fine

Just was looking everything over today myself my grandfather did yesterday i guess he overlooked the transmission fluid level it is about three inches above the hot line. I did check it on level surface with the engine idling and hot.

Wow, that is way overfilled. You need to get some of that out of there. You have a couple of choices. First, you can drop the pan and let some out that way, or second, you could get about ten feet of vinyl tubing and siphon some out. I suggest the siphon method. Once you do, I hope the transmission works OK.
How did the extra fluid get in there?

You may want to check your transfer case. I believe there was a recall on some of them, where the will switch into neutral on there own and won't shift out.

transfer case should only affect the front wheels in 4wd. OP didn't even state he was in 4wd at all.

Here is what I'm talking about
http://www.autonews.com/article/2014062 ... serAgent=1

Now this is just a recall for the 14 and 15 models but I know they have had recall on later models as well for the same thing

Yah, that does seem to indicate that the whole truck could be stuck in neutral. But that is for 2014 and 2015 models. It looks like OP has a 2007.
