Violent shaking from rear at super low speed

Violent shaking from rear at super low speed

Postby ttnuagmada [OP] » Feb 13 2020, 11:06pm

I've done a bit of googling and I can't seem to really find any description of what I'm experiencing. I'm assuming it's drive-train related, but I'm not honestly sure.

I have a 2012 Sierra crewcab 5.3 liter 2WD.

So here's what it's doing:

At very low speeds, (idle rolling pretty much), sometimes my truck will start violently shaking. It's only happened a handful of times, and it's hard to reproduce. The types of situations I'm talking about would be like at a drive-thru or parking lot, where i'm basically creeping along by doing little more than taking my foot on and off of the brake. Occasionally, the truck will feel like something is trying to slow it to a stop, and it's often followed by violent shaking coming from the rear. It's almost like something's getting bound up and/or severely off balance. I don't experience any symptoms at speeds above 5mphs. Transmission shifts fine, truck brakes fine etc. It's only in these super-low speed idle-rolling types of situations where i might be feathering the brakes to roll into a parking spot. It stops the moment I either give it enough brakes to stop, or jab the gas slightly.

Anyone have any ideas?

Does your truck have an auto 4wd setting? Are you in auto mode?

Do you have the G80 RPO code. AKA a factory locker rear axle?
