what engines bolt up to a 4l60e trans?

Postby SRCISME [OP] » Feb 27 2016, 1:10am

I am curious if I wanted to upgrade my 04 Silverado ls 4wd, I have a 4.8. This is my first chevy truck since my 77 2wd chevy. I just don't know the blocks since 305-327-350-400. THANKS!

The trucks that came with a 4l60e had the following motors.

93-98 trucks and suvs= 4.3, 5.0, 5.7

99-07 trucks and suvs= 4.3, 4.8, 5.3

07-13 trucks= 4.3, 4.8. They came behind the 5.3 upto 2008, in 09 the 5.3 got the 6l80e.

Thanks for the good info. I will take good care of what I have, and tell my 17 year son to lighten up on the truck
Like it will make a difference.

Any vortec will bolt on 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 8.1. You'll need a tune if you get anything besides a 4.8. Should be able to get a mail order tune to work just fine.

2010 the 6L80E was standard, 2009 the 6L80E was only equipped on crew cabs with the 5.3 and not the single or extended cab for some odd reason.
Also 6.2 equipped vehicles had the 6L80E from 2007.5-2013 (Cadillac and Denali trims for 2007.5-2009)
