100% waterproof tonneau covers for GMC Sierras?

Postby BigDave70364 [OP] » Jul 18 2020, 11:45am

I am looking for a roll-up or possibly a flip tonneau cover that is a legit 100% waterproof. I hate the bulky hard one piece covers. But I have been researching so many brands.... I guess they all have their faults? I almost ruined my set of golf clubs keeping them in the back of my old truck with a backflip folding cover. That thing sucked. I've seen the Paragons which are interesting and look cool but I've heard they aren't waterproof and also make a racket when driving at interstate speeds. Do ya'll recommend any from your experience that are the best, waterproof, quiet tonneau cover that doesn't cost $1800?

I have a 'Fold-A-Cover' brand (GMC accessory) on my truck for 3 yrs and its still looks as good as the day I bought it. You are not going to find a waterproof one but this one comes close. Only time I find water inside it when I go through a car wash and that's mainly by the t-gate. The one I have is a hard 4-piece folding cover that can be removed easily. I suppose to some the only drawback is the cost, a tad over $1000 from the dealer installed when truck was purchased and its made in the USA (Michigan). Selection for 2020 models may be limited.

I would buy again....

I don't have a tonneau, but have been considering a Peragon.
You should search the site. There's lots of threads on tonneau covers, but no tonneau is 100% leakproof. That would be a Suburban or Yukon XL.

I have the OEM Hard Tri-fold on my 2014 and I am very happy with it. I would say it's 99% water tight because nothing is perfect but I am very pleased with the outcome every time I wash the truck or a heavy rainstorm hits.

That rear sweep tailgate blast in the touchless wash is where water gets into my bed.

I put a Gator hard fold on mine recently. When I was done with the install I closed the gate and the only place I saw light coming in was those spots. Not much you can do about it.

I agree. No 100% waterproof cover exists. Besides, there are a bunch of ways water can get into the bed even if the cover was 100%. The bed is not sealed up like the truck cab or trunk of a car by any means.

If you are worried about it, I would find some kind of bed liner that would hold any cargo off the bed floor if only a half inch. Maybe a plastic bed liner with holes drilled in the bottom to quickly let any water drain out.

Yeah none of them are 100% waterproof

I bought a cheap MaxMate roll up on Amazon for $179 2 years ago. I was skeptical at 1st but it stays drie and you can’t beat the ease of a cheap roll up. I’m a musician and I haul music gear to gigs. No way would I use it if my stuff got wet and it don’t

Good luck
