That truck should be taken away from its owner and given a bicycle since they don't know how to maintain it properly. I'm curious, what does the rest of the truck look like?

I can’t post that for privacy reasons but it’s clean and in good physical condition. It’s a company truck.

My company has gone 12k between oil changes. Just how things happen with the company garage and scheduling vs driving. But dang. 20k lol.

Worked with a guy that bought new Cadillac's every five years or so. Never changed the oil.
Never did any service to them, just traded them back in on a new one.
Imagine buying a used Caddy and getting one of those?
Better get the extended warranty with that!

I hope that is not going to be covered under warranty.

No matter what you try, the filter will plug-up almost immediately.

Re: Engine sludge removal

Reminds me of a '79 D***e pickup I bought used back in '89. That old 318 looked like the pictures on this thread, had low oil pressure and noisey lifter.

Took the covers off and carefully cleaned out the rockers as much as I could. I then sprayed the the area with Marvels Mystery Oil (MMO) and let sit overnight. Repeated this process for a week.

During that week I dropped the pan and cleaned it out. The pickup screen was full of chunks and I went ahead and replace the screen and oil pump.

After the week, I buttoned everything up, put in some clean dino oil and did a Motor Medic Motor Flush (?) on it. Then drained the oil and changed filter.

After that oil pressure was now acceptable and lifter noise disappeared. I filled with clean dino oil, a quart of MMO and new filter. Repeated this every 1000 miles for 6 months.

Took off the rocker covers after six months and things looked acceptable, while lifter noise still gone and oil pressure still acceptable. Drove it for another 18 years.

Yea is not covered at all. I’m just trying to somehow save the engine. I have my doubts but given the cost of a new engine it’s worth a try. It now does not knock or tick and has been running for over two hours now. Oil pressure is good enough but not where it normally would be.

Aren't some of the "Extended" performance synthetic oils claiming up to 20,000 mile protection?
