GMC commercial for the Holidays

Postby DrLove38 [OP] » Nov 20 2020, 3:50am

Well, another holiday season putting up with the GMC commercial that they have worn completely out over 2 or 3 or 4 years.
You know the one with the severely hen pecked woke pantyboy that spends nearly 150 grand on a pickup and Tahoe or Suburban. Of course she wants the pickup.
I can't get to the remote quick enough to at least mute.
Yeah I know we have a lot more going on to worry about.

I've often thought that this commercial is out of touch with their true customer base, but they sell an expensive product. I imagine it's not the easiest to come up with an advertisement with someone gifting a brand new truck and not seem out of touch with reality.

... and living in their $2 million house. It was funny the first 800 times I saw it but it was worn out two years ago.

A friend of ours just bought a 2020 1500 3.0 Denali crew AND a 2021 Yukon Denali 6.2. Paid nearly $150,000 combined. So I guess it is done by those who can.

Yes, it is done way more than most think.

A lot of people go into huge debt trying to "Keep up with Jones".
But there are quite a few that actually do have the money, and just walk in and buy a truck or two every year.

Agreed. You would think with the profits they are getting from these over priced trucks that they could come up with something new and improved as far as marketing.
Its like "ground Hog Day" over and over again!
At least Mercedes has a new "Same Theme" commercial!

I haven’t seen it. Of course I haven’t really watched TV for years. At the end of the year I will have seen The Mandelorian, my wife will have on the Thanksgiving parade, probably a Dr Who special, and of course I will have seen, in bits and pieces, all of the Cars animated movies about 300 times, as that is what my 2 year old grandson likes.

I must admit that my ability to tell makes, let alone years, from one another has stopped working after 1979.

Do they update the trucks each year?

Pretty sure the red one is actually an Acadia, but annoying commercial nevertheless.

I suppose GM feels they don't need to put out a new commercial since everything on TV is the same rehashed crap that's been on for the past 20 years. Even HBOmax is mostly reruns of Friends and Big Bang.
