Actually the color of my truck is "Overcast Metallic."

I really love Android Auto...not only for Google maps and Navigation, but now I've discovered Podcasts.

I got my I06 upgrade from CPS Audio Video in Cotati, Ca.
Cody and Greg are great guys. Was about $600. Had to change the module behind the head unit, module behind the glove box, and receptacle in the jump seat console.

I got my build sheet late yesterday. Life is good.

Never heard of ANDROID AUTO before, so I've been looking into it. Apparently it won't work with my I05 MyLink. My salesman didn't know for sure, but thought it would if I had the Android Auto app installed on m phone and hooked the USB cable from the phone into the unit, it would work as long as I kept it connected. I also asked the folks that sent me the build sheet about this. May take a few days to hear back from them as this is Labor Day Weekend.

It won't work by just hooking up a cable, no way. (Although once you upgrade to I06 you still need the cable.) Read my previous post. It takes an upgrade to I06. That's what I did.

Glad you got your build sheet.

On another note, if you want a copy of your "window sticker" from when the truck was new, you can go to http://www.monroney labels.com and get one. I think they charge $13.00.

By the way Bob, love your "tag lines."

Jeff,

It's $7.99.
At least that's what it cost for mine. I don't know if there priced depending on year of vehicle. If that were the case mine should have been free. ;)

Thank you Roo. I thought as much about the Android Auto functionality. No way I need to upgrade to the I06 at that cost level. My Waze a/o Google Maps apps do a superb job in the GPS department and with the STEELIE® ORBITER® WINDSHIELD KIT attached on the extreme left of my windshield and holding my phone at the level of my dash, it works great. While I don't need or want all the other stuff from my phone available through the MyLink, I can understand where others might want or need those features. My age might just be a factor here.

My 2015 Silverado 1500 (5.3 L engine) is new to me as of last Monday. Certified Pre-owned with 29,800 miles. Pulled my 4000 lb boat 300 miles up and down Utah/Wyoming 'hills' at 13.7 mpg last Tuesday. Yee Haa! Loving it!

Bob,

Congrats on the "new to you" 2015. I have a 2015 as well. bought it 10/17 with 26K miles on it.

Certainly understand not needing too many "bells and whistles." Age certainly has something to do with it, as I'm 65. I like Android Auto and Google Maps on the big screen, and now that I've discovered conservative talk Podcasts, I'm all in......but I have an aversion to stuff on the windshield. (I looked at your phone mount.) I tow a 3400 pound boat, and also a cargo trailer about once a week, usually averaging about 4-5000 pounds. I still do deliveries for my wife's retail business within about a 250 mile radius around central Texas.

For you, the money better spent would probably be a "catch can" and an "AFM delete" via a "Range device" or tune. Those 2 upgrades would be about the same as an android auto upgrade. I have an Elite Engineering E2 catch can, and started with a range device but upgraded to a "Lew" tune. Most on this site consider those upgrades mandatory. There's information on both all over the site.

Jeff,

I didn't have a clue what those were/are until you mentioned them. Looking them up, they appear to be performance enhancers. I'll pass on both. I have always left me trucks 'as is' performance wise. I did chip the 8 L Silverado 2500HD I had back in the early 2000s. I wasn't impressed. But, to each his own. My upgrades for now will be a Leer 100XL (already on order) and a 100% Bedrug liner. Thanks again for all the advice and info. Much appreciated.

Oops! Forgot to add the picture of where my phone sits on the dash. I know it's not for your preferences, but it works great for me. ;)

Just FYI----The catch can isn't a "performance enhancer." It's an "engine saver."

LIke Jeff says, a catch can is for reducing the intake of oily fumes back into the intake which can and will coke-up the valves.

There is a night and day difference between a 'chip' and a real tune. A Diablo tuner with a Lew tune makes a world of difference in how these trucks drive and is not just a performance enhancer. You'd be amazed at the improvements in driveability. It's worth every penny. But, like you say, to each his own.

I just sent in my request for a build sheet.
Let's see if they still provide this service and how long it will take.
