how can i tell if i have a sierra 1500 or sierra 1500 hd. the truck is crew cab 4x4 5.3 auto
vin;2gtek13z361277702. bought the truck used and no manuals; decode the vin but no luck; insurance has it as hd.

It is not a 1500HD. All the actual 1500HD trucks came with the 6.0

I think 1500HD only came in one cab style also, that was crew cab with "standard" bed which is 6.5 ft long. A half ton crew cab will be a "short" bed, something like 5' 8" long.

Dead giveaway is the number of lugs on the hub. 1500 will have 6 while a 1500HD will have 8.
