Looking for my first truck advice

Postby darrin [OP] » Apr 23 2014, 11:06pm

Looking to buy my first truck. Looked at D***e but would like something that is lower in 4X4 and easier to get in and out of. Which years of Chevy/GMC trucks were most reliable after 2007?
Looking to see what fits in my garage better so what is the total length of the whole truck in crew cab vs ext. cab?
And can you remove seat bottom and seat back from the truck to make more room?
Which years did not have the cylinder deactivation feature?
Which motor is more reliable ? 4.3,4.8,4.3,6.0 in the 900's?

Iv only had brake rupture problem with my truck, i think because it sat for 4 years, but i know that the newer trucks have more problems, not all the trucks have the problems but they are out there, my one parking buddy had his tranny lock up on him and his dad and they both have 09' chevys, it was some glitch that their computer messed up

I have a 2010 with the 5.3 it has the AFM but I think that can be turned off with a programer. it has 133,000 miles on it I bought it at 109,000 miles and have not had an issue with the truck at all. The only issue I have is an oil seep not a leak a SEEP from the valve cover gasket on the drivers side. I needed to replace the rear shocks and the oil and trans cooler lines when I got the truck then it needed the 100,000 mile tune up (plugs and wires) other then that the only issue i have had are from adding a K&N cold air kit. I needed to switch to a dry filer instead of the oil filter. Was fouling the MAF. But I am happy to report at 133,000 miles no oil issues.

This is coming from a guy that spent the past year shopping. Granted all i wanted was a newer hunting truck, had a 87 model. lifted, old, bad ride, etc. Buy something you really want and like. reguardless of brand be proud an happy with the truck. Having said that, the bug will get you and you will spend a bit more than you planned. but hey what is money but to spend. and you will be happy in the long run
