Got all the rust removed and used some rust stopper.

Started the paint process yesterday and applied the second coat today. Took me about 4h each coat to roller it on.. Way longer than I thought.

Yeah its amazing how something simple takes so long haha. It took me basically 2 full days to do mine.

I brushed the majority of it on and then used spray to get the harder to reach spots.

I‘m now 5 or 6 days in it total.
All after work and staying till 1-2 am.. the amount of rust was crazy.. and I‘m limited to a grinder and no sandblasting at the moment. Had to make me some sort of cabinet so I won‘t cover the whole shop in dust.

Painting is 4h a coat with 12h dry time between coats.. last coat tomorrow morning then it should be enough!
I‘ll cover everything with wax once its dry.

Oh and while you‘re here.. I removed the tank for more room... should I prime the fuel system before trying to start the engine? Never removed a diesel tank before[emoji28]

Yeah you'll definitely want to prime the system if your disconnecting any lines.

It will still probably start a little hard but as long as you prime it the best you can, it should fire up, and once it does, let it idle for a bit before shutting it off so it runs any air out of the system.

Thats exactly what I thought. Thanks for confirming!
I still have to learn a lot about Diesel Engines and seeing how sensitive they are I‘m always a bit feared haha

The main thing to remember when dealing with their fuel systems, is they are ultra sensitive to contamination.

So as long as you make sure the filters are good and working, and there isn't excessive water or debris in the fuel, you'll be good.

Lubrication is also critical, but the older cp3 pumps can take more abuse (if you will) than the newer cp4 pumps can. You have the cp3 which is a good thing. I got rid of the cp4 and went back to the older cp3 to eliminate the issue of the pump shredding itself.

Thanks! It was about time to do something before it was too late.
The shock mounts had some crusty rust on them and are a bit thin.. I‘ll have to keep an eye on them. I need to find some reference measurements...

I put fine rags on both disconnected lines and in the Tank.
Removed all debris I could prior to dropping the tank and I dropped it with a Crane for less movement and debris shake up from the frame.

New filters are going on after connecting it..

Well CP3 but LB7.. I got some haze from time to time with a blueish touch lately. Balance Rates are still good and no blow by. I‘m just driving it lol
Oh and a 6spd would be cool.. the 5spd gets annoying while towing sometimes
