Hey, thanks guys! She's finally home. Nope, didn't keep anything from the old truck. Someone will see it clock 20k miles; it had 19,885 on it this morning (Barely even broken in). But, I honestly don't want to know what it sells for, where it goes, etc. I just hope someone from out of town buys it. It won't be too bad tho cz I upgraded from it. Now if I traded it in for say a minivan, I'd probably breakdown sobbing anytime I saw it drive by.

I was happy with the trade-in amount, got right where I was hoping, plus they took $7k off of the sticker price; which is $8k under what the SuperDuty I drove was. But really, the Super Duty was really nice; It really impressed me. I swung into the Furd dealership to testdrive a 2018 Raptor for **** and wasn't overly impressed. For having 100hp more than my Sierra stock, it didn't feel like much for the pricetag (They were selling it for $80k/ $10k over msrp). The ride reminded me of my wife's MDX, which is really nice, but not what I want for a truck. So for the hell of it test drove an '18 F350 with the 6.7 ($71k) and was amazed at the ride. Admittedly, nowhere near the truck I need, but certainly became the type of truck I wanted.

Last night I was convinced that was the direction I was going but had to checkout the new Duramax first. First drove a '16 High Country with the previous gen 6.6L ($55k), and it was "okay". I know they are heavy trucks, but this felt rreeeaalllyyy heavy, and nowhere as impressive as the 6.7 PowerStroke. So then tried the '18 High Country with the new L5P and that was everything I was hoping it to be, and $8k less than the SuperDuty.

So long story short, Pulled the trigger on the diesel I always kicked around the idea of. It's got a whole 12 miles on it and I try to tell myself to just enjoy it as is, but here I am measuring my garage clearance, checking out wheels, deciding what chrome to strip, etc., etc., etc. This being a whole nother beast, I try to pump the brakes a bit and take things a little bit slow as I learn what I don't know that I don't know.

This is the worst hobby I could have ever gotten myself into.

Wow...only 8k off MSRP? I thought most were giving a good bit more than that. Though maybe for not such a new model like an 18.

Hope you enjoy it and looking forward to signing in on the new build thread when you get that started.

Yeah when I traded my 2015 in the other day it just ticked 17k. They didn’t seem to care about the low miles. I’m going to try and drive this one more and get my money out of it

Larsen!! Congrats and welcome to the High Country. That thing has more chrome than my Grand Pappy's 72 Coupe D'Ville!! I'm sure the mod bug has bitten hard already. Do tell your initial plans for the new one Jon old buddy.

Thanks Rich. I'm digging it.

So, turns out my Sierra was accounted for before I even traded it in :P We live in a fairly small town and not many highly modded trucks running around. One of the GM techs already had dibs on my truck while I was test driving the chevys. He ended up buying it 20 mins after I signed the papers over. I ended up talking to the guy for a good amount of time yesterday while I was scheduling the paint protection service. He had a ton of questions about it. So on one hand, sucks that I'll see it driving around town, but at the same time, at least it went to someone who will appreciate all the time I put into it. It gave me a little bit of closure (stupid how attached you get to these things)

Anyways, just spoke with the shop that did my BDS lift on the Sierra, and they are working on numbers and a schedule for me. I'm going to keep the appearance more modest with this build rather than go the baja racer look again. Mainly because I want to do another coil over kit, and the 6.5" with 37" tires just isn't going to fit in the garage. I already looked into making the garage door larger, and I thought my wife was going to murder me when I even hinted at modifying the house to be able to modify my truck :)

Tentative game plan as of now is the BDS 2-3" coil over conversion kit, set at 3". That has the Fox 2.5 coil overs in front and the Fox 2.5 in the rear, Steering stabilizers, and their Recoil traction bars. That paired with a set of 20x9 (0) Forces (leaning towards the "Buckshot" model) in the textured black finish again, wrapped in 295/65R20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers, and then slap a set of Amp steps on. Other than that, just color matching some of the chrome; comparing replacement pieces vs. just having them wrapped. Since there aren't any delete kits available yet for the L5P, that's about as far as I plan to go until some wins the arms race to crack the computer system.

Nope. Really don't care to know. They gave me what I wanted so that's all I cared about. I'm sure he got a sweeter deal than most being an employee of the dealership, so, win-win

Nope. Just didn't want to cross a personal line with someone I just met, regardless of the circumstances. I got my new dream truck, he got his new dream truck, life is good. No sense prying for irrelevant information. (not to say I'm not curious, but I wasn't going to ask)

Aw heck it's just a question. Crossing personal boundaries would have been holding hands or putting arms around him...lol
