Junior62's 2011 Silverado Build

Postby Junior62 [OP] » Apr 16 2020, 5:49pm

Hi All, new member here but old-ish member on PT.net

Figured I would bounce over here as it seems this forum gets a bit more traffic/attention now days and so hopefully I will get more input on my build. Without further ado.....

Picked up this 2011 Silverado LTZ with the 6.2L / 6L80 combo back in February.....

Picking Him Up 2.jpg

Picking Him Up 1.jpg

Picking Him Up 3.jpg

Just now getting around to doing some modifications on it. Here is what is to come (some has already happened):
- Picked up some cheap Tahoe LTZ 20" wheels to throw on for now
- 2/4 - ish drop (start there, see how it looks.....still have to be able to tow ~5k lbs a couple times a month)
- Remove steps/badges/door moldings/z71 stickers/etc.
- Air Raid intake tube
- HPTuners tuned by me

Other things I am thinking about are black bow-tie, black grill insert, black heatlights/tailights and color match rear bumper chrome pieces. Oh and headers with a wide-band for tuning but still undecided how much I want to spend on them....

Thanks for looking and please comment and ask questions as often as you like!

Welcome Thomas. I am kicking myself for not getting the 6.2. Looking forward to watch your changes.

Thanks! I am a summit white guy but it was just coincidence. I looked for months trying to find the 6.2L package in the LTZ trim and this was the only one that popped up in a 500 mile radius. Only 85k miles on him when I picked him up :D

I actually passed a couple up. Was looking for the fuel economy of the 5.3 since gas was more when I was looking. I had the 6.2 in a yukon a few years prior.

Mileage is certainly low for that year model. Nice find.

Ok, so the first "mod" if you can call it that was to ditch the 18's and aggressive tread tires for something more fitting of a lowered vehicle. I picked up these Tahoe LTZ wheels for cheap a couple weekends ago (not the best condition and tires are old) which will do for now...

They need a good cleaning along with the whole truck.....

Next thing I wanted to do was drop it. I was a bit hesitant to take on such a large job in my driveway with hand tools but luckily it all came together this past weekend and I love it. The stance is so much better. Oh and I also ditched the factory steps since I can just slide into it now :D

Ended up doing 2" drop spindles in the front and flip kit in the rear with lift hangers and lift shackles for 4". Currently running the Belltech Street Performer shocks, not sure yet if I like them or not. Also thinking the front may need to come down another inch but we will see how everything settles over the next few weeks/months.

On to the pics......

What do yall think?!? I am super happy with how it came out.....
