Definitely some handy tools. I know a lot of people are converting to electric tools, but 1/2" air impacts are strong and typically quite a bit smaller than the big electric impacts out yet.

Yesterday, we replaced all of the brake lines. The ACDelco OEM brake line kit included 5 pre-bent lines. But the rear lines we used some raw tubing, did cuts, flaring, bending. Removing the plastic wheel wells made the job a lot easier.

Also, I found this video which had some immensely helpful tips:

This is the worst of the old lines. Not only was it very rusted on the outside, but also on the inside. I was stunned.

Three of the four bolts for fastening the brake lines to the upper control arms on both sides were so rusted that hey broke off when trying to loosen them We used zip ties for now, but plan to get suspension kits and replace all those parts later.

Here is the line that we (my mechanic) bent and flared for the rear:

Here is where they all connect to the ABS unit:

One of the lines going to the rear on the driver's side we needed to remove one of the bed bolts. But, of course, it was rusted on. Our only option was to cut into the rail and cut the bolt. We will get a hardened steel replacement bolt, washer, lock washer, and maybe a short piece of steel to reinforce.

Today we plan to bleed the brakes, check for leaks, cycle the ABS, bleed the brakes again, check for leaks again. check the master cylinder, fill the rear diff with fluid, tighten the top bolts of the front shocks, and button everything up. Hopefully I'll be happily driving it tonight! Will post more later.

Sorry guys. I must have been tired last night. I really meant to type water pump, not water heater, lol!

Lots of work, going to be nice with all these new parts though.

Did you look over that vent tube behind the water pump (and below the throttle body/intake)? That thing looks super rusty. Looking at these rust trucks makes me want to buy a lot of oil or ACF-50 and coat underneath my truck....

That is on the list of other things to work on in the near future.

There is also a big ground cable mounted to the firewall that is pretty corroded, which I plan to replace also.
