Well... I’m back! 2006 Silverado ext cab!

Postby judsonlimited [OP] » Feb 21 2021, 2:02am

So I left Chevy for a little while and bought a R**. Still have it but I wanted to get a little project so I had a friend of mine and fellow member who recently upgraded to a high country hd so I picked this up off him.
It’s a 2006 Silverado 2wd with the 2LT package. 226k and it runs like a top. He and I put in a 4.5” lift on it, it has a new steering rack. It does have an oil leak, not terrible but I suspect I’ll be replacing a rear main seal sooner or later. So far I’ve fixed the fog lamp switch and the key fob. Will be fixing the messed up bumper here tomorrow. CarPlay Head unit will probably come next month along with a new belt and tensioner, window switches, and some other odds and ends. The body is still in great shape and there is minimal rust under it.

Well I fixed the bumper alignment issue with some new brackets

Now I’m going to try to fix the abs problem. There are too many shims in the wheel speed sensors that are setting off the abs at low speeds.

Then off to Home Depot to find some bolts for the front shocks seeing as I’m missing one

Abs is fixed, for now. Time will tell. Even blacked out the bow tie.
Next weekend will be new belt, idler pulley, and tensioner, new window switch and new headlights and right turn signal. Also found that the headlight support is broken as well so that’s on order also.

Now I’m looking for some takeoff wheels to replace the oxidized and off color star shape wheels that it has now. Probably some cheap 285s to go with it and rear wheel spacers to match the front track.

Busy day today. Truck got a new rear main seal, new headlight assemblies, and bracket, new belts and tensioners, window switch. Also ordered a head unit from crutchfield, should be in next week.

Also found a few other problems that may need addressing later on. Carrier bearing is shot on the drive shaft and there is a broken header bolt that has apparently been broken for quite some time now.

Welcome back!

Looks like you've been busy. Good catch on that shock with the missing bolt, that could have turned out bad.
