Figured I'd make a build thread on this truck since it should make for an interesting read so I'll start from the beginning.

My Stepdad purchased this 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 back in 2009 with 30k miles on the odometer. He drove the truck for several years before parking it in 2016 at his old house that is currently vacant. The truck was parked due to having a bad misfire problem along with no horn, cruise control, parking brake was completely gone, and had a slow rear main leak.

Since then the truck has sat under a tree collecting dirt while the paint started to fade, I decided I'd make an offer to bring this truck back to life.
First he was reluctant to sell the truck because he liked having it sit at the vacant house to make everyone think someone still lived there to keep unwanted guests out, but then after some thinking he decided it was time to let it go rather than let it sit beyond repair. I asked him what he wanted for the truck, and he told me $1,250. Immediately said yes and since then the truck has been undergoing extensive repair and tune ups.

The first couple weeks of messing with it I replaced the following:
1) Knock Sensors & Harness
2) Plugs & Wires
3) Exhaust Manifold Bolts
4) Wiper Pulse Module
5) Air Bag Clock Spring
6) Coolant Flush
7) Oil Change

Still the truck was having a misfire so the shop found out that the O2 sensor was bad and the catalytic converter was completely blown out so had them fix that as well. Got those code cleared up but was still getting the knock sensor code. So had the shop take a look and low and behold the front knock sensor came unplugged.

Problem solved. Truck now runs like a top with zero issues. Now onto the next step of the restorations process. The Cleanup.

Looks like a fine ride, even better if you get it "cleaned up" :D

So spent a few hours cleaning the truck, unfortunately the carpet didn’t come out completely clean but it’s good enough until I buy new carpet. Here are some before and after photos

Love seeing people bring trucks back like this! Looks like you've done a decent job so far. I'm in for more!

Thanks I appreciate it! It'll be a journey for sure. I keep bouncing back and fourth on keeping the leather and bucket seats. I'm a fan of the cloth and bench seat w/ fold down console. That and I really want the black interior, not a fan of the tan.

The cloth bench seat with the foldable console/jump seat in mine is nice. Feels like a comfy couch and the console is nice and large plus the grand kids can sit right beside me when we go somewhere if I fold it up.

Exactly. My brother had an 07 Classic and had the bench seat. I just find it more comfortable having the bench seat. That and the center console in my truck is eh. Really not that great.
But if I were to commit to doing that I'd have to swap everything from the dash, carpet, seats, panels, headliner, and overhead console. That alone would cost a pretty penny and on top of that I'd be losing the power seats, memory seats, and heated seats.

Nice work so far. What sort if cleaner did you use on the carpet? I use some spray I get from Walmart called Tuff Stuff. But am also a big fan of Folex really getting some serious stains to lift out.

I much prefer the bucket seats and center console, but I completely get why others prefer the bench seat.
