‘08 5.3 intermittent loss of power

‘08 5.3 intermittent loss of power

Postby Spbolts [OP] » May 02 2018, 3:30pm

i have recently bought an 08 1500 with 5.3, 111,000 miles. It runs really well most of the time. I have found intermittently when I am driving in town and stop at a light or intersection the idle becomes really rough and I have no power when trying to accelerate. I will have the lack of power for about 1 -2 minutes then the power returns and everything seems fine. There is usually no check engine light or trouble codes. I have replaced the MAF and cleaned the throttle body. The last time the check engine light came on and it threw a handful of codes:
p0443
p0102
p3425
p3441
p3449
is there one issue that can cause all of these codes to happen at the same time, or do I have as many issues as I do codes?

i appreciate any help you can give.

I would first check your cabling make sure none are loose or corroded to each cylinder especially the listed ones in the codes you gave. Check the MAF connector as well for corrosion or loose connection. Also the other basics of loose\cracked\collapsing hoses, leaks in the air intake, and intake manifold. Work from there check all the simple stuff first.

@edgecrusher
Thank you sir. I checked every wire I could find and saw no crushing or deformities. With the engine running I moved every wire and harness I dared to touch and I could not get it to replicate the issue I am having. @chubbs
Thank you for your reply as well. I am embarrassed to say I do not know if it is an AFM. How can I find this out.

If it is a 2008 5.3, it does have active fuel management (afm).
