What type of oil do you recommend for my oil change? Mobil 1???

I prefer Penzoil Platinum. Any brand name synthetic will work. (Mobil 1, Penzoil, Valvoline, etc.).

On my 2010, I used Amsoil for a long time, then switched to Mobile 1 0w-30. I ran this for years, until the truck got older, and I started to notice a bit of seeping and minor oil use. I switched to Valvoline full syn High mileage 5w-30. Not sure if it's the higher viscosity or the additives in the oil, but the seeping is gone, and the engine is smooth as butter.

Bottom line--I can tell you care enough to know that full syn is important, and that regular OCI is important. You are already 95% ahead of most. Good Luck!

I like Mobil 1 honestly. I never really had luck with Penzoil. I will probably use 5w-30 Full synthetic oil in the 2010 Chevy lots of people recommend it on other forums and a friend of mine says thats all he runs in his familes truck that is a 2013. Thanks for the reply!

Also, where is the "cheapest" place to buy the gallon jugs of oil? Walmart? and is that oil brand the same as the auto part stores oil or is the auto parts oil better quality then Walmart Mobil 1 oil?

Thank you for the nice comment! and thanks for the reply! I really enjoy tinkering with vehicles like oil changes and things of that nature they are important and since I don't have money to waste on new engines and I don't really swap out vehicles very much I try to take care of them best I can! They need to last me till I run them into the ground or they give me problems lol. I use Castrol GTX high mileage in my old Chevy 1500 with the 5.3 and I use Full synthetic in my newer truck but I am just running the 2000 Chevy till it dies since its sooo rusty I wont get much money out of it in trade in and i would feel bad if someone bought it private party and got hurt in it soo ill run it till it dies. I kinda bought the 2010 at a fair deal I would say... It was one of those back lot beauties at the local chevy lot it had 205k when I bought it paid like $4500 for it and $5000 or something like that out the door with fees.

Mobil 1 is Mobil 1, unless it's counterfeit, which is not likely at Wal-Mart....

And....I don't see a Wal-Mart logo anywhere on the jug in the attached link.

Valid question. I don't know the answer, but would suspect the Walmart oil to be the same as auto stores. But it honestly wouldn't surprise me if the Walmart stuff was a 'special' brand.

around me mobil1 full synthetic is about $25-30/5qts at walmart. part stores like o'reilly's are usually $30-35 but they offer used oil recycling too, so sometimes its worth the 5-10 dollars to dump the old oil at the same place
