I just sold my 2003 1500HD 6.0l last month. I had 243,400 miles on it and was still going strong with regular maintenance. I purchased a 2008 2500HD 6.0l with 66,000. The one reason I sold it was to move up to a 8' bed.

I got an '04 2500HD 4x4. Has approx. 197000 miles on it. About the only thing I replaced were the front hubs and radiator. Will be needing new motor mount; Fan rubs on plastic radiator vent. Brakes seem to be locking up now. Not the first chevy to have done that. Other than that, truck has treated me real well. Looking forward to another 6.0

Bought a 04 2500HD LS ext cab with 6.0 through the dealership I work at (I practically STOLE the truck at $500). Dealership bought it at approx 80,000 miles and It was used as a parts delivery truck. The driver babied it during it's life there. The oil pump started failing at 280,000 miles. Had no oil pressure until it was warmed up, then after a couple months, no pressure at all. The driver was told to run it into the ground, it finally blew up at approx. 283,000. Truck was well taken care of before that.

That is a shame...probably still worth pulling the motor for a stroker rebuild.

Yeah, going to pull the engine and see if there are any holes in the block, or ruined sleeves. If not, i'll send it to a machine shop and have it rebuilt. Then I should be able to get atleast another couple hundred thousand miles out of it hopefully!

Good to know that the oil pumps are good for 250+K miles. If that had been replaced...who knows. Let us know what you find when you check out the block and internals.

I have a 2002 HD1500 6.0 that just turned over 300,000 miles on the original engine and transmission. Oil pump was replaced at about 245,000 miles. This truck has headers, cold air intake, and a custom tune. This truck has worked on the farm and ranch since day one, and has towed a trailer miles and miles. I have never owned a truck this trouble free.

My personal 2004 2500HD has 173K and still going strong.
My work truck, a 2006 2500HD has 306K and sounds every bit as good as a 50K truck.
Its all about the maintenance and the luck of the draw...
