6.0L Fuel Economy Poll City/Highway/Towing

Postby ShARpY308 [OP] » Jan 17 2013, 4:25am

Alright folks so I had an Idea to make a poll to better show what people are getting for MPGs with their 6.0ls in City, Highway, and Towing. I thought this would be much more convenient then looking through all the pages of other topics and just have the results polled up. I realize the poll isn't perfect and you are limited to only 10 options for polls so that is why it is a fairly broad range for MPGs.

Poll Guidelines:
- You have three votes, one for each of the categories City, Highway, and Towing.
- You have the option to change your foot should you make a modification to your vehicle and get different results.
- You can also post the specific details of your vehicle to inform others on how you are getting your results.
- Please do stay on subject as the purpose of this Poll/Topic is to inform others of the 6.0Ls range in fuel economy for the three core driving scenarios.
- You do not have to vote three times if a scenario doesn't apply to you. Example: if you do not tow you do not have to select a tow option.

Votes keep coming in and the results are pretty spread out. Surprising to see that people are getting 8-10 MPG for both city and towing. I imagine that has a lot to do with winter or just the fact the 6.0L likes to chug lol. I know we got more 6.0L owners out there that can vote! Bump.

Good poll, I like how it's broke out into the three areas. I think the towing category will have the most variable due to the size/weight of loads pulled. I'm very happy with my 6.0 when I consider the extra initial cost of a diesel/Allison, maintenance costs, and finally the inflated price of fuel compared to gasoline. Not to mention how many diesel guys are spending an additional $5K in upgrades trying to get mileage and power lost with their emissions systems.

My votes are averages on junk winter blend gas. Alittle better once the warm weather blend rolls out.

The way I set up the poll you can edit your votes so say in the spring or summer when you get better gas or don't have cold starts you can change it. Also I am dealing with winter gas and getting a brutal 8 MPGs right now.

11 - 13 City

15 - 17 Highway

12 - 13 Towing 18ft Larson Bowrider (about 3,500 lbs)

In my sig I have a Fuelly icon. You can click on it and see my mileage over the past year. I saw good gains with a Lew tune in August.
Winter gasoline hurts mileage as well. I do a lot of idling (to keep warm) when I eat my lunch in the truck at work.

Great poll BTW! :D
