I ran the Predator tuner in my old truck and was pretty happy with it. Lots of options and also the option to hold multiple tunes.

With that said there is no comparison for a custom tune. Look around your area and find a shop that will do a custom tune. I paid $300 for my tune and have lifetime re-tunes if I ever change or add anything.

Question about chips for my 6.0L 2500hd

Postby Jrluz14 » Jul 15 2011, 6:40pm

Damn you're lucky ^^ I paid 250.00 for mine but no free re tunes. After my cam, stall, and long tubes I'll be getting a dyno tune for $450.00 with a year of free dyno re tunes.

Check out www.blackbearperformance.com if you have no local tuner. They're very reputable in the LSx engine tuning world. Justin (owner) will hook you up with a great tune.

Question about chips for my 6.0L 2500hd

Postby Jrluz14 » Aug 19 2011, 1:58am

Don't worry, the 4l80e is good to around 600hp, add a Transgo shift kit and I will handle up to 900hp. It's one of the strongest GM has ever made.

No don't worry about it if you're not making huge power. If you have a custom tune you should have some quick, firm shifts just from that. If you don't have a custom tune from Black Bear Performance I suggest you get one, it's by far the best mod for the $$ especially on 2500HDs

Yes. Custom tune absolutely hands down the best mod for the money.

I apologize but i'm a bit of a novice when it comes to these customs tunes. I was looking at the Hypertech - HyperPAC 83009 so that I could tune based on my driving needs. I.e. Pulling a load, hauling a load, kicking every F**d's a**, and so on. Does the custom tune only give you one set of perameters? Or am I over complicating this whole thing? I would love an explanation...I'm new to the world of custom tuning.
