Does anyone know if there is a way to check oil pressure at the front of the block? my lifters are noisy put a new cam, lifters, and rockers in, still noisy. wanting to verify that the front of the block is getting oil pressure. anybody got any ideas? I'm not to far from pulling it and going back to a SBC lol

Following this. I have even suggested a manual test of oil pressure...but unsure of where to connect a gauge to on any of the engine platforms...

I have read that there is an oil pressure port under the power steering pump area as shown in this picture. But I've never tried it. I don't know if that plug is threaded or pressed-in. Proceed at your own risk. 8-)

Go from a port near the oil filter. There aren’t ports on the front. They’re under the timing chain cover. Is the cam aftermarket. I put in a Raylar cam and rockers and it is a lot louder. The ramp rates are fast and close the valves loud. Also roller rockers are loud on these. If your running the factory ECU ? it wouldn't run without the computer seeing oil pressure

That galley plug is supposed to be threaded. It's used for priming a new oil pump or freshly rebuilt engine.
Not sure about the 8.1. Supposedly it exists on the LQ4 and other LS type engines.
I'll know proof positive about the LQ4 in a couple weeks when I change my oil pump and pickup.

The LS has that. The 8.1 does not.
