33x12.50 on a 12"wide wheel

What issues, if any come from mounting tire on that wheel

33x12.50 on a 12"wide wheel

Postby beaker [OP] » Sep 17 2015, 2:47pm

Quick and easy,
I called today to price the wheel and tire combo I want, and was told by a certain "national chain store" that they could not mount the tire I wanted on the size wheel I wanted.

I am looking to get a 22x12" wheel and mount 33x12.50 tires on them. What would be the issue with mounting this tire on this wheel? Obviously it has something to do with the width of the tire, but why? Is it just because it is not "suggested" by the tire manufacturer?

Any helpful comments would be great. Thanks

take it to an offroad store, they will mount anything, on anything. Now, the tire won't last as long because it will be stretched a bit, and you won't be able to file a warranty, but he it'll poke a lot and look cool.

There is a sticky thread over in the Wheels/Tires section that explains a lot on wheel size, backspacing, lift, etc to help with the clearance question.

Will this Fit? Tire Sizing and Wheel Spacing Explained

If you plan on running it with anything less than a pretty big lift (like 6-7.5") plan on having a ton of rubbing issues. To get the look where the tires stick out a ton is cool, but driveability suffers a great deal with our body style as the front wheel well openings are not friendly without some serious mods...

They can be mounted. Take it somewhere else. I used to have 33x12.5 tires on a 20x12 wheel. Now a 35x12.5 on the same wheel. Like stated your tires will wear faster though.
