DuraTracs on the 6.2L

Anybody feel like the tires get over-powered?

Hey Folks,

I was wondering if any of you 6.2L people were running the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires. As you know, it's a really squishy tire. Prior to the Silverado I've run them on my Jeep Wranglers for years with good success. But a Wrangler is only putting out 295 HP. The low-end TQ of the 6.2L seems like it overpowers them if you aren't easy with them. Just curious if anyone else experienced this.

It's a given that you have to adjust driving habits when on 18" DTs versus running 20" wheels and street-oriented tires.

Regards,
John

They do have some tread squirm regardless of what engine you have. Most sizes have an 18/32nd's tread depth. Squirm seems to go away after a few thousand miles. I'm wondering if you notice it more due to the heavier weight of the truck vs. the lighter weight jeep?
