Tire rub issue, opinion on fix?

Tire rub issue, opinion on fix?

Postby GMC_Waterfowler191 [OP] » Mar 19 2014, 4:48pm

Hey all,

So here's the short story. Drive a 2011 GMC Sierra & ordered a 20X9 rim, no offset. Temporarily got some Goodyear Wrangler ATs 275/65/20 until I save up for a good new set. I leveled my truck with a 2.5" RC kit but ended up with some rubbing of the back of the wheel on the cab panel. The front of the tire clears fine, no issues when turning. I know the tire is a 34" & the 2.5" is for up to a 33" but I figured with the tires being about half tread, I could get away with it. Rookie mistake maybe...Anyway, I was thinking about knocking back some of the metal to give me the clearance I need to alleviate the rub.

Was hoping to get some of your thoughts & recommendations on this issue.

Thanks & can't wait til I get this finished to post some pics!

Google NorCal fender mod. I didn't go that far with it on mine, I was able to just trim about 2" off the bottom of the plastic fender well liner and solved the problem.

Thanks for all the advice.

My buddy & I ended up doing some metal work & it turned out fine. Still has a tiny rub to it but I'm real happy with how everything turned out, despite the issues I had with the kit RC sent me.

Hope y'all like how she looks. I'll get better photos tomorrow.
