Wheels for 2/4 drop on 88-98?

Postby bobmobile [OP] » Apr 21 2021, 10:29pm

Hi. I'm looking at putting a 2/4 drop kit on my 96 Cheyenee, using a spindle drop kit. At stock height, it looks like I can run many varieties of 17 inch wheels instead of the stock 15. Once lowered, what has been people's experience with wheel size/tire combo? Can I still run 17? I don't want to do any cutting, but obviously don't want any rubbing. This will be my first time lowering a vehicle, so constructive guidance is greatly appreciated.

Not a lot of members that do drops on this site, but perhaps someone will chime in and help you out...
Not any Cheyennes, either, as this is a Silverado and Sierra specific site....Although I have a 71.....

Thanks. I guess I should have just called it a Silverado lol. I've never done a drop. I've done a small lift on my 4Runner, but that's a different forum.

Wheel size will not matter diameter wise when you step up from a 15" to a 17" the width and offset will/can be the biggest problem with going to different wheels. Do you know what wheel you plan to go with?

spindle drop is the way to go from my limited drop knowledge. a couple of known manufactures are IHC, DJM, Bell tech and mcguaghys not sure if all carry for your year but those are the ones I see mentioned more often than not.

I'd go with some 20s and a good tire size may be 275/45/20. Not sure your spend limit though, some billets would be pretty sweet. I would check out some torque thrusts they look pretty good on your year truck imo
