When you put the truck in gear, with the brake pedal depressed, a intermittent buzz/rattle/vibration can be heard from the passenger side glove box area... Same when you first hit the gas leaving a stop...

Some also hear it when the AFM equipped 5.3 transitions from V8 to V4...

It also becomes louder in the cold..

The problem is the corrugated wire looms touching the transmission dipstick tube..

Zip tie them back from the tube...

I listened to this noise for 53,000km and its unbelievable how much noise that loom makes... Its like a whole new truck...

Hopefully this will help the others.

Some were pretty frustrated.

I figured it out from someone else in a another forum... And there is a TSB.... But if you ask GM about it, they have no idea at my "know all" dealership...

So I performed the actions as per the TSB and what do you know...

Last time I was into the dealer I showed them.... "Oh ya... that TSB... We didn't understand what you meant"

I don't know how more specific I could be when I said, "will you do the TSB that requires you to zip tie the wire looms away from the dipstick tube?"

Garcia946 posted this a while back.

Here`s some info on it....

From G.M......IMPORTANT BULLETINS AND PIs FOR TRANSMISSION TECHNICIANS:

Its on the 2007"-2011" Full Size Trucks, with the 6L80e Transmission....(# PI0522) Tick or Rattle Noise from Front of Dash, Transmission Filler Tube Cracked or Broken (Inspect Filler Tube, Replace Tube as Necessary)

Had this done on my 2011 but was already performed on my 2013 before I purchased it.

If you think you're worried, try working in healthcare! I just sat through a 2 hour class on using a new blood glucose meter that our hospital adopted. The teacher asked at some point what types of foods could elevate blood sugar and the nurse sitting next to me yells out. "Salt!" .... You coulda heard a pin drop for about the next ten seconds before the teacher finally recovered with, "Uhhmmmm.... No." I can promise you, if that's ever my nurse, I'm hobbling for the exit pronto.

I did the wire loom fix and it helped a lot but I still had considerable vibrations going on. As I was trouble shooting my air bag sensors I removed the plastic shield that covers the space under the engine. It sounds 100% better. No noise.

I really don't want to keep the cover off so I may either shave it down because I think it is vibrating against the frame or mount it back up with rubber washers.
