Hello I have a 2005 Silverado that I bought with an issue that I have been trying to work around.

Previous owner installed some rough country caster plates and made the slots where the control arm bolts go too large, with stock style control arm bushings it’s not too big of an issue.

when using aftermarket control (like cognito or kryptonite) arms they just have a bushing sleeve that the control arm bolt passes through. The issue is that the sleeve ends up being pushed into the slot and bending the slotted area. The control arm brackets then end squishing the control arm bushings.

ultimately I will need to find someone to weld on repair plates or new brackets. But in the meantime will I have any issues putting a grade 8 washer on each side of the control arm? That should keep it so that pressure isn’t being applied directly to the slot and the bushings aren’t getting squeezed?

I bought some freedom offroad arms that are currently on the truck since they have stock style bushings, but I already have some cognito arms I can’t return that I want to use. Truck has the atomic fab coilover kit and is lifted in the front.

Do you have photos of this?
not sure if I am adding pictures correctly but when I originally got the truck it had spindle source arms shown in first picture. You can see the bracket is pinching the bushings. I wish I had a picture that better illustrated the issue but the holes for control arm bolts are way too large and the bushing sleeve is bending out the control arm tabs in the area surrounding the hole.

the second picture is how the front end is currently set up for the most part, that was in progress picture when I was putting the atomic fab coilovers in. The freedom offroad arms have a large metal washer on the side of the bushings so they seem to not cause issues with the control arm bolt holes that are messed up. I purchased them as a temporary solution.

i really need to figure out how to repair the brackets but this is my daily driver I use for work so hard to have it down for more than a weekend. I already have some reinforcement plates for the brackets, but they don’t have the slots so I haven’t tackled it since I’m not sure how I can get the slots correctly lined up since my existing ones are messed up.
