Alright guys my truck is a 2011 Silverado, steel green metallic in color. When I google the paint code which is u718s, it comes up as evolution blue metallic. My truck is definetly green. Is this right? I want to order some touch up paint but I have to figure this out first. Thanks

That is correct evolution blue metallic is the correct color name. I ordered touch up paint from automotivetouchup.com and it matched perfect. However I recently did some color matched rhino liner for rock guard. 10 inches up on door and bed sides. Rockers and cab corners too. To color match the rhino liner you have to get tint. So it's just the color no binder in the paint. Had to get two 8oz cans of tint. They are two different colors. Not by much but I can notice it.

Thanks for the information. But the problem I am having is that I have the correct code but it has been mixed 3 times and the color is noticeably off. The place doing the mixing has been in business for years and the guy told me he has never had this problem. In fact the last 2 times he used that special camera that gives you the color, the color comes up the same as the code but it just doesn't match. Really at a loss here. I've been to a few of the local body shops, to get there input (they don't mix paint) which I understand. One told me that this was a very hard color due to the tints and metallic and said you will not get a good match from a spray can. Something to do with the way the paint comes out vs spray gun and lays on the vehicle.

I have never ever seen that colour but that may not have been a choice for Canadian vehicles. I remember when I bought my 09 that was that dark blue. Took a trip to USA and saw a lighter blue never seen in Canada either. Back in the old days when I painted cars metallics were hard and yes, air pressure, distance and feed contributed to off colour. With professional guns you could compensate and make it close. Quite a bit harder with rattle can.

Don't rely on color names, Chevy will call it one name and GMC will call it a different name. Its just the sales name for the color.

Only go by the color code on the SPID label.

Case in point
2018 GMC

Color RPO code G2X Deep Mahogany Metallic

2018 Chevy
Color RPO COde G2X Havana Metallic

Also those are GM color names and may or may not coincide with paint brand names.
