I'm in the process of trying to decide to replace with the Jasper 5.3 that comes with the AFM Delete apparently it's the only approved in California that will pass the smog test. Relating to Exemptions Under Section 27156 of the California Vehicle Code Jasper Engines AFM Delete Kit

I have a buddy that says not to go with Jasper they're unreliable and to go with one for the GM dealer and install an AMF delete kit. I've been told if I do that it won't pass california smog. Do I go with Jasper with AMF Delete or go with GM motor no delete both with 3yr 100000 mile warranty. One mechanic says he's had no issues with Jasper they other said he's very learly of Jasper engines. I'm at a loss what to do plus a loss with $$$.. I can't afford a new truck and the lifter failed once and was repaired but same issue is occuring again, my mechanic doesn't want me to keep dumping money into the truck. Thoughts???

Buying an AFM engine, whether from GM or anybody else, would be foolish, IMO. You're just asking for future failures. If you're in CA and doing a delete won't pass smog tests, I guess I'd go with Jasper with no AFM.
I appreciate it, had a long coversation with my mechanic. Based on his experience the past year in California with the lifter issues he's had a better experience with the Jasper with the the AFM delete over the GM with AFM. I just had another buddy who works on cars put a bug in my ear about his complaints about Jasper engines just to confuse me.
