2019-2020 1500's w/o AFM?

Just took the truck in to have some stuff looked at and got a decent list of things that will need repairing sooner or later. Long story short, about $5000 if you include the AFM delete among other needed stuf, like suspension, new tires, and some other stuff.

Anyway, probably will sell or trade it. But my question is about the newer 2019-2020 Silverado 1500's... are there any versions that do NOT have AFM/DOD?

I'm not looking for a diesel (or turbo diesel) either.

My other option is to look at a GMC Canyon or Coloardo.

The Colorado and canyon have afm as well.

Only way to not have it is to get a 2500 or a diesel.

So even the 2.5L 4 cylinder Colorado has AFM?

The only GM gas engine that does not have AFM is the 6.6 motor but it is only in a 2500 or bigger. Also the 4 bangers do not have AFM. The do have variable lift for the valves and VVT. Also the 4 bangers are vary different than previous engines the camshafts are housed in the valve cover. Not under it but in it. That's just the half of what all is different.

I'm surprised the new 3.0 oil burner doesn't have some sort of AFM or DFM. They're probably working on it.

Already happening. A member on here is beta testing a Range on a 2020 now. (zbkeebler)

In 2019 they did have the L96 6.0, port injected, non AFM engine in the 2500 and bigger. For better or worse that was they last of the dinosaurs. No more port injection in GM's line. It's all direct injection from 2020 on.

The 4cyl shouldn't. But why would you want that small engine in a truck?. Modern afm isn't as troublesome as it used to be

So, originally I used to tow trailers, but as of lately, we have gotten more trucks at work so I just use them when I need to tow. The main reason I'm looking at a truck again is for height and better visibility (fewer blindspots that many SUVs and cars). Even the new Colorado/cAnyon is only a little smaller than my 2013 1500 from what I can tell.

I just hope that if they do have AFM/DOD in some of them, that they've redesigned it so if I got one with AFM, it won't be a rehash of the 2010-2013 debacle that required a partial top-end rebuild to fix.

I know this is a Chevy forum, but the 2013 has left a bad taste experience with GM. I wanted to buy an American made vehicle, but after the oil pump failing, and now the AFM issue apparently getting progressively worse, and the fact that GM didn't even bother to respond to calls, and the dealer was little to no help, I'm not 100% sure I'd go with a GM vehicle the second time around. However, it's also been 7 years and since I was planning on keeping the 2013 for at least another 3-5 years, I wasn't really looking at what's new on the market, so I guess now I have to. IN hindsight, when it had 120k on it about a year ago (it now has 150k) when the oil pump was replaced, I should have had it rebuilt or traded it in then but didn't think the lifter tick was much of an issue, because it would come and go, now it's more frequent.

I had several trips to the dealer with my 2016 Silverado 6 speed for several problems with my Transmission. I ended up with a new 2020 RST Z71 after some calls to GM customer assistance people. They do help you if you call and can document your problems.

Auto stop has nothing to do with AFM.

All L82 engines have the internals for AFM (cam, lifters, VLOM, etc.) However, AFM may or may not be active on your particular truck because it was built during the time GM had a hard time getting the proper ECM chips to run the AFM software. If you have the original window sticker, it should state on it whether AFM is active or not. Look for a line item that shows a credit ($50 I believe) for non-AFM functionality. Otherwise, a trip to a dealer for a build sheet might tell you.
