Looking at exhaust and im having a custom mandrel bent setup done on my 6.2L. The exhaust guy recommended I go 4 inch off of the ARH collector but told me 1 7/8" primaries are "way too large" for the 6.2L and said he could build me a set of 1 3/4" or 1 5/8". Well needless to say 1 7/8" are going on the truck regardless, but I am not sure if 4 inch is too large off the collector? Also I plan to run cats in the Y pipe of the ARH headers. Anyones advice or has anyone used 4 inch off the collector? Planning a single muffler and 3.5" tips. just trying to figure out what is best without comprimising performance or reliability and since 1 7'8" are "way too large" I don't know if i can trust him for the 4 inch recommendation.

Have you asked any other speed shops? You'll get a million different opinions here, which is fine, but it sounds like you need some science-based facts on airflow and backpressure. I'd say you're fine, since the 6.2 is a big engine. They run 4" pipes on diesels, and those are all similar in size to the 6.2, but maybe the turbo on the diesel has something to do with that. However, the stock piping on my 03 6.0 is 3.5", so again, I'd say you're fine with 4" on your 6.2.

The 6.2l has 3.5" now, I was just wondering with headers and high flow muffler of the 4" would not have enough back pressure. I know a lot of cat back set ups are 3.5", has anyone put 4" on a 6.2l or something else?
